  • Peanuts – Honey roasted peanuts, salted peanuts, plain peanuts — the possibilities are endless! Use whichever kind you want.
  • Rolos – These are little chocolate covered caramel candies that add a little something extra to this recipe.
  • Mini marshmallows – Make this a very s’more like treat with some mini marshmallows. So sticky sweet and yummy.

  • M&Ms – We used plain M&Ms, but you can grab some caramel M&Ms, peanut M&Ms, or another different type if you want.
  • Peanut butter cups – Use the little mini bite-sized peanut butter cups so that they actually fit into the cones. You can also chop up the full size peanut butter cups so that they’ll fit.
  • Graham cracker pieces – To make these taste like s’mores, break up some graham crackers and add them into the cones.
  • Peanut butter – Smooth peanut butter is easier to coat the inside of the waffle cone with, but feel free to use crunchy peanut butter.
  • Chocolate chips – Milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, and even white chocolate chips will work great in this recipe. You can use a mix of all of them too!

How to Make this Campfire Cones Recipe

There are three different ways to bake campfire cones! Before baking, you’ll need to assemble the cones. Follow these instructions to prep them perfectly:

Use a butter knife or silicone spatula each cone with peanut butter or another nut butter.

Then place a couple marshmallows on the bottom of the cone so that the toppings don’t melt out of the bottom of the cone.

Fill the cone with your favorite toppings like chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, graham cracker pieces and candy.

Wrap each cone tightly with aluminum foil to seal well — you don’t have to keep the cone upright if you seal it tightly.

Oven Directions

Lay each wrapped cone onto a baking sheet and then bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 5-7 minutes.

Carefully unwrap and serve!

Grilling Directions

Preheat the grill to medium high heat and place the cones on the grill grates for 5-10 minutes, turning occasionally.

Use tongs to remove from the grill and then unwrap and serve.

Oven Directions

Heat the foil-wrapped cones over a campfire for about 3-5 minutes, or until the chocolate and marshmallows have melted.

You can either lay them on the hot coals of a fire or use some grates over the fire to lay them on.

Once heated and warmed through, unwrap and enjoy!

How to Store Leftover Campfire Cones

While these are best fresh, you can store any leftover you may have. Just unwrap and allow the cones to cool completely. Then re-wrap in a clean piece of aluminum foil or plastic wrap and place into a zip top bag or airtight container. Store at room temp for a few days or in the fridge for up to a week.

When you’re ready to eat, just pop the cone in the oven for a few minutes until it’s warm again!

Pro Tips for the Most Fun!!

  • Ensure you don’t have melted fillings coming out the bottom of the cone by adding some marshmallows into the bottom of the cone before baking.
  • Be careful you do not overfill the cones or they’ll get pretty messy when you cook them. I recommend leaving some space at the top of the cone.
