Ingredients for Brownie Bites Recipe

  • Cocoa powder – You can’t have brownies without cocoa! Grab that container from your pantry and use a big ol’ heaping cup to make these super chocolatey.
  • Flour – Basic all-purpose flour will do the trick.
  • Vanilla extract – Add more depth of flavor to your homemade brownie bites with a splash of vanilla extract.
  • Butter – You’ll need quite a bit of butter, so make sure you have enough on hand before making this recipe.
  • Sugar – Sweeten with both white sugar and brown sugar.
  • Light brown sugar – If you only have dark brown sugar, that will work too.
  • Salt – A little bit of salt will help cut through the chocolate flavor to balance the sweetness of the brownie bites.
  • Eggs – Allow eggs to come to room temperature before mixing them into the brownie batter.
  • Baking powder – Baking powder is the rising agent needed to make brownie bites light and fluffy.
  • Chocolate chips – I use semi-sweet chocolate chips, but you can use milk chocolate or dark chocolate too.

What can I add to brownie bites?

There are many things you can use as toppings or mix-ins for brownie bites. Chocolate buttercream frosting would be super tasty and a cream cheese frosting or caramel drizzle would also be yum! You could even drizzle some peanut butter on top of your mini brownie bites or use peanut butter chips in the batter.

These chewy brownies would be tasty with a bit of crunch from pecans or walnuts. You could also add a delicious chocolate ganache in the middle if you want to be extra fancy. Kid friendly fun like M&Ms and sprinkles would be great additions too!

Helpful Tools

How to Make Brownie Bites

Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and then lightly grease each muffin cup of a 24 cup mini muffin pan and set it to the side.

In a mixing bowl combine melted butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Then mix in the eggs and vanilla and stir well.

Add the salt and baking powder and mix well, then add the cocoa powder and flour.

Once the batter ingredients are thoroughly incorporated, fold in the chocolate chips.

Grab a cookie scoop or a spoon to scoop the mixture into the previously prepared mini muffin tin.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until brownies have set in the middle. Let them sit in the warm muffin pan for 10 minutes before removing.

Grab a knife and carefully cut around the edges of each muffin to release them from the pan, then place onto a cooling rack until cooled completely.

If you have any remaining brownie batter, repeat this process.

Enjoy immediately or store for later!

How to Store Brownie Bites

How you store these mini bites really depends on how quickly you want to eat them. But first things first, allow the bites to cool completely before storing. Then transfer to an airtight container or plastic bags.

Store at room temperature for 3-4 day or the refrigerator for about a week.

How do you keep brownie bite from sticking to the muffin pan?

Start by greasing your mini muffin tin very well with nonstick cooking spray to keep them from sticking. However, if you know that your muffin tin is prone to sticking, then use mini muffin liners to help keep the brownies from sticking. It is also very important to leave the bites in the hot pan for 10 minutes as they cool because it will make them much easier to remove from the pan.

Can I freeze brownie bites?

These little bites of chocolatey goodness freeze very well! Place them onto a baking sheet and then into the freezer for a few hours. Once frozen, transfer them to a freezer bag or airtight container and store for up to three months. Allow to thaw before eating.

Pro Tips for the Best Homemade Brownie Bites

  • If littles are helping you fill the mini muffin cups, take extra care to ensure each cup is filled evenly. This will help to ensure each bite finish cooking at the same time and bake all the way through.
  • Insert a toothpick to the center of a few brownie bites to ensure they’re fully baked. If the toothpick is clean, they’re ready! Just keep in mind that some melted chocolate chips may be on the toothpick too.
  • Don’t add too many extras to the brownie batter or they may not bake all the way through and they could also end up dried out.
