If your kiddos are bookworms, they’ll LOVE this fun winter craft! This winter bookmarks printable gives them the ability to make the most fun and unique bookmarks. They can use whatever colors they want and let their imagination and creativity drive the art process. Once they’re done, they’ve got something very practical that they can actually use!
Don’t get me wrong, I love the sentimental crafts like Handprint Butterflies and Handprint Snowmen, but it’s great to have a few crafts and activities with a final product that we can actively use. These free printable winter bookmarks are truly so much fun and the best part is that you can make as many as you want. A bookworm can never have too many bookmarks and this is a creative activity to add more to their collection!
Why You’ll Love This Activity
- These free printable bookmarks are great for all ages, including adults. No one is too old to color, and EVERYONE should read so bookmarks are a timeless craft!
- Printable crafts like this one are completely free! As long as you have a way to print and some coloring supplies, then you don’t have to pay a penny to have an entertaining craft time. Easy on the pocket book and still a creative way to have loads of fun.
- Bookmarks make an adorable gift! If your kiddos want to give something handmade to their friends and classmates, then they can color each person a bookmark. It’s a thoughtful gift that comes from the heart!

Supplies Needed For Winter Bookmarks Printable
- Printer – You’ll need to be able to print these downloadable winter bookmarks. If you do not have a printer, check with your local library or local office supply store to see if they have printing services available for you to use.
- Paper – Plain computer paper will do, but I like to use white cardstock so that the bookmarks are a little more sturdy. Cardstock holds up better to markers and coloring supplies as well.
- Coloring supplies – I like to use thin markers when coloring these so that it’s easier to stay in the lines of the tiny pictures. You could also use crayons or colored pencils.
- Scissors – If you are working with younger children who want to cut out their own bookmarks, consider using safety scissors.
- Laminator – Extend the life of your bookmarks by laminating them after they are colored. Once laminated in a sheet, cut each one out! This helps keep edges from bending easily and gives them a bit more structure. A laminator is totally optional, but if you’ve already got one on hand this is a great idea.

How To Make Free Winter Bookmarks
Download the free bookmarks onto your computer or smart device and print them out.
Cut out each bookmark, or leave them in sheets to color multiple different ones before you cut them out.
Color and decorate with whatever you want to use! Then you can add the additional step of laminating them if you want.
That’s it — your bookmarks are ready to mark your place in your favorite wintery read!
Winter Books For Fun Winter Bookmarks
Some of the most fun times when it’s too cold to go outside are when you curl up with a cup of hot cocoa and a good book. Here are some great kids chapter books for the winter season:
- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
- Mr. Popper’s Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater
- Miracles on Maple Hill by Virginia Sorenson
- The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder
- The Boxcar Children: The Mystery at Snowflake Inn by Gertrude Chandler Warner
Pro Tips
- You can use more than just markers and crayons to decorate these bookmarks. Feel free to add things like glitter glue, stickers, rhinestones, and so much more! You could even use glitter gel pens or watercolors to color in each little character and item.
- To easily cut out the free winter bookmarks to color, use a paper cutter. You won’t have to carefully keep your hands going in a straight line with scissors and you can cut out more bookmarks in a shorter amount of time.
- If you are creating these in a classroom setting or group setting, write each child’s name on the back of their bookmark to keep track of them.

It’s a bookworm’s favorite thing to be swimming in a sea of fun bookmarks and now you can make as many as your heart desires! Keep a few, and gift a few of this thoughtful activity.
