White mug with white chocolate and marshmallows

Make a batch of Lucky Charms hot chocolate, and it’ll be a hit for St. Patrick’s day or any time you want a fun drink to make for the kiddos (and you!).

We’ve been having lots of fun making recipes with marshmallow cereal. I’ve already shared Lucky Charms pie, and now we have this white hot chocolate recipe decorated with Lucky Charms marshmallows.

This is a great recipe to make for kids for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Here in Minnesota it’s still plenty cold in March, so a hot mug of hot cocoa is always a treat! Giving it a St. Patty’s Day twist just makes it more fun.

Easy White Hot Chocolate Recipe

  • The base of this recipe is a really easy white hot chocolate. You can make it on the stove in a pan – it only takes a few minutes!
  • Add some whipped cream and cereal marshmallows to dress it up. That’s my kiddos favorite part – sprinkling the Lucky Charms on top before they take a sip!

This year, I’ll make a batch for them while they work on some St. Patrick’s Day printouts. It would also be great for a party if you’re hosting one. Even adults will like sipping on this sweet drink!

Lucky Charms Hot Chocolate Ingredients

Ingredients

  • Milk – you can use whole milk or 2% milk.
  • White chocolate chips – Or chopped white chocolate from a bar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Salt
  • Whipped cream – for garnish
  • Lucky charms marshmallows – for garnish

Helpful Tools

How to Make White Hot Chocolate

Combine all of the ingredients, except for the garnishes, in a saucepan. Warm them over medium heat while whisking. Whisk until the chocolate chips are melted and the hot chocolate is smooth.

Ladle the white hot chocolate into mugs. Top each serving with whipped cream and sprinkle the cereal marshmallows over the top.

Other Garnish Ideas

  • Add some colorful sprinkles or shamrock sprinkles on top.
  • You could also add some grated white chocolate or mini chocolate chips.

Recipe Tips

When you melt the white chocolate, be careful and don’t let the milk boil. Warm it just below the simmering mark and stir until the chocolate is melted.

You don’t need the cereal part, just the marshmallows. You can separate the marshmallows from a box of cereal, or you can buy just Lucky Charms marshmallows on Amazon.

You can use homemade whipped cream or canned whipped cream to make it easy.

If you don’t like white chocolate, you can prepare a regular hot cocoa mix or make hot chocolate mix.
