S'mores Craft Supplies

Supplies

  • Cardboard box – Recycle any cardboard box you have on hand for this craft.
  • Ruler – We used a classroom ruler, but you could also use a measuring tape.
  • Scissors – Make sure your scissors are clean and sharp.
  • Brown and black paint markers – We used paint markers but you could use any craft marker.
  • Brown foam craft sheet –   We used a foam craft sheet but you could use brown felt instead. If you only have brown construction paper, fold the paper a few times to make it into a thick square.
  • Glue stick –  A glue stick is great for this project but you can use any craft glue.
  • Cotton balls –   We used jumbo cotton balls.
  • Googly eyes– Use googly eyes to give your S’more some character.
  • Wooden craft sticks –  You can find wooden craft sticks in any craft or hobby store or save your popsicle sticks for this project.

How to Make this Easy S’more Craft

  • Make the graham crackers for the s’mores using a recycled cardboard box. Cut two 3 x 3-inch squares out of the cardboard box using your scissors. Next, using a ruler as a guide, draw a straight line down the center of each square. Finally, add sporadic dots to finish the graham cracker look. Set aside.
  • Take a sheet of brown craft foam and cut it into two  4 x 4-inch squares, this is your chocolate. Set aside.

Assemble Your S’more Craft

  • Take one of your crackers and coat the backside using a glue stick. Place 6 cotton balls onto the glue and press to secure.
  • Grab your chocolate square and add a generous amount of glue to one side. Center and press firmly on top of the cotton balls.
  • Add glue to the remaining side of the chocolate and press the remaining 6 cotton balls to the chocolate.
  • Lastly, add glue to the backside of another cracker and secure it to the cotton balls. Press your entire creation together like a sandwich to ensure it is secure.

Decorate Your S’more!

  • It’s time to bring your s’mores to life! Affix 2 googly eyes and draw a cute smile on the front of the cracker to add some character.
  • Glue a wooden craft stick to the back of the s’more.
  • Allow your s’mores to dry for at least 5 minutes.

Pro Tips

  • Fluff and stretch your cotton balls to give them a real fluffy marshmallow look.

Can I make this easier for young children?

Of course! I recommend pre-cutting the “graham crackers” and “chocolate squares” if working with younger children. This will help make it easier so they just need to assemble this easy craft and decorate.

This is also a great time saving tip for kids of all ages.

So cute! I am making a s’mores themed raffle basket for our Special Olympics team and am including this activity as part of it! Quick question: What are we doing with the 2nd 4×4 foam square (“chocolate square”) we cut out? I might have missed that part. Thanks so much for this great craft!
