FAQS

How do you get both the red and white colored dough?

If you want to make it with both white and red, you will need to make two batches of the dough and leave out the food coloring in one of the batches.

Can I make the two colors of doughs without needing to make two batches?

Yes, I will warn you this might be a little messier. You will make the whole batch without the food coloring, then remove half the dough. Next, you will stir the red food coloring into the second half of the dough. When you knead the dough, your hands might get a little red food coloring on them. I find spraying my hands with Lysol helps remove the food coloring from my skin.

How do I store the playdough?

You can store it in an airtight container right at room temperature.

How do I make scented playdough?

In this recipe, we recommend peppermint extract but you may use a few drops of peppermint essential oils if you have those on hand.

How do you get that bright red color?

I love to use gel food coloring; it gives a tremendous vibrant color without adding too much liquid.
