What You’ll Need for Space Arts and Crafts
- Scrubber sponges – For the most affordable price, check your local dollar store for these!
- Jumbo craft sticks – You can find these at your local craft store, the craft aisle at your grocery store, or the dollar store.
- Paint brush – Any type of paint brush will work for this alien craft!
- Paints – Be sure to grab non-toxic, washable, paint when making this craft with younger children.
- Pipe cleaners – You can use regular pipe cleaners or the sparkly ones! Any color will work.
- Pom poms – Any size and color of pom poms will work great.
- Googly Eyes – You can use any size of googly eyes. Find these at your local craft store or the craft aisle at your grocery store.
- Construction paper – Grab whatever color construction paper you have, anything will do!
- Scissors – Safety scissors or regular scissors will both work well.
- Glue – Any type of craft glue will work. I recommend using liquid glue and not a glue stick. You could also use hot glue!
How to Make this Alien Craft
PAINT: Cover your work surface and then use your paint brush and non-toxic paint to paint your jumbo craft sticks your desired color.
CREATE: Take the pipe cleaners you want to use and shape them. You can create curly-q’s or round shapes. These will be you antenna on your alien.
GLUE: Using your craft glue or hot glue, glue the pipe cleaners in place on your craft stick that you painted earlier.
CUT: Cut a mouth shape out of construction paper. You can make any shape! Oval, circle, open mouth, etc.
BUILD: Glue your scrubber sponge on top of the previously attached pipe cleaners. Then, glue the googly eyes and mouth on top of the sponge. Let the glue dry thoroughly before continuing with your alien craft for kids.
DECORATE: Take a full size pipe cleaner and wrap it around the jumbo craft stick. Then, take your pom poms and add them to the top of your pipe cleaner antenna. You can also make pip cleaner and pom pom arms by sticking one end of the pipe cleaner into the scrubber sponge.

Kids Alien Craft
Ingredients
- Scrubber sponges plastic or stainless
- Jumbo craft sticks
- Paint Brush
- Paints I use green purple and blue but you can use the colors you want.
- Colored Pipe cleaner
- Colored Pom-poms
- Googly eyes
- Construction paper
- Scissor
- Glue
Instructions
- On a work surface, use a brush and paint the wooden sticks
- Take the pipe cleaner and shape them the way you want them. You can roll it around your finger or a pencil to make round shapes.
- Glue the pipe cleaner on the wooden stick (you can also tape it with scotch tape).
- With the scissor, Cut the construction paper to make the mouth.
- On top of the pipe cleaner, glue the scrubber sponges. Follow with the googly eyes and the mouth.
- At this time, you will need to way for the glue to dry out before continuing with the project. For faster results, you can also use a glue gun.
- Once the glue is dry, take more pipe cleaner and use them to make the arms, you can also use the pompoms to make it more fun. Simple roll the pipe cleaner around the pompoms. Insert the arms on both sides of the scrubber sponge.
