It’s the holidays and it’s time to make some easy crafts with the kids. This Rudolph Pinecone Craft requires minimal prep, supplies and time making it perfect for a quick and easy Christmas craft.
We used a pine cone to paint a fall tree so it seemed fitting we grabbed one to craft with this holiday season too!
Swab out the red pom pom for a black one and create the entire team of Santa’s reindeer. Display them in your home or add some ribbon for a quick and easy homemade ornament for the tree.
Supplies Needed
- Pine cone – Grab one from outside, pick some up and the craft store or order online.
- Brown pipe cleaners
- Googly eyes
- Pom poms – We used red for rudolph, but you can use black to create a regular reindeer. Make all of Santa’s reindeer!
- Brown construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue gun – This will work the best, but you can try to use liquid glue if you don’t have a hot glue gun.
Give Rudolph a nose and eyes!
Glue the pom pom nose on the point of the pinecone. We used a red pom pom for Rudolph but you can use a black one to make a reindeer.
Glue the googly eyes toward the center back of the pine cone.
Cut out a set of ears using the brown construction paper.
Time for Antlers and Ears!
Glue the googly eyes toward the center back of the pine cone.
Cut out a set of ears using the brown construction paper, set aside.
Then cut one pipe cleaner in half, then cut two pieces from one half. Bend the uncut pipe cleaner in half to form a V shape.
Use these two smaller pieces to wrap around the top of the deer’s antlers to form the smaller antlers. Twist until the pipe cleaner is secure.
Insert the V shaped pipe cleaner antlers from the bottom on the back side of the pine cone. Wrap it around at the top, twist, and spread out the pipe cleaner.
Apply glue to the ears and insert the ears towards the back of the pine cone. Hot glue works best for this step, but you could also use liquid glue.
Make it an ornament!
The kids will have turning these into ornaments to decorate the Christmas tree with. All you need to do if add string to the pine cone and hang it up!
