Reindeer Food
Magical Reindeer Food is a magical mixture of oats and sprinkles that is sprinkled on the lawn on Christmas Eve for reindeer to eat. Rudolph and the other reindeer will need a big snack after pulling Santa’s sleigh all night and this treat will lead them right to your house!

Christmas is a magical time of year, especially Christmas Eve! Christmas has always been special, but when I had kids, it took on a whole new level of magical moments. On Christmas Eve, we always have our Elf on the Shelf bring them Reindeer Food to sprinkle on the lawn!
After you set the milk and cookies out for Santa this year, head outside to sprinkle your Reindeer Food on the lawn and make magical memories of your own.
What is Reindeer Food?
A mixture of rolled oats, Christmas sprinkles and red sugar that is said to guide Santa’s reindeer to your home on Christmas Eve!

Supplies Needed
- Rolled oats
- Christmas sprinkles
- Red decorating sugar crystals
- 4” x c” clear cello bags
- Reindeer Food Bag Topper Printables
- Scissors
- Tape
- Stapler
Some recipes call for glitter, but it’s not safe for animals so make sure you switch that out and use the colored sugar in its place.
This magic reindeer food recipe is a simple mixture to mix up so the kids can even do it. Make up a few bags of reindeer food and give them out to friends and family.


How to Make Reindeer Food Bags
- In a small bowl, combine 1 cup oatmeal, 4 teaspoons each sprinkles and sugar. Stir to mix.
- Divide mixture evenly between clear cello bags.
- Fold top of bag over and staple shut. Trim off access bag if you’d like.
- Cut out the four bag toppers off of printable.
- Take one bag topper, place tape on the inside and fold it over the bag. You can also staple the tag to the bag if you want it more secure.
In a pinch, you can use snack size Ziploc bags if you don’t have the clear cello bags pictured. The topper won’t be as long as the bags, but it will still work and kids don’t care!
