It’s summer, it’s hot and the perfect way to cool down is with a cold summer drink. This Patriotic Punch is fun for the 4th of July, but a great festive way to cool off all summer long.

You will layer three different types of drink to achieve a red, white and blue drink. The kids will have fun drinking it and making it.

The best part is you need to read the nutrition labels on each juice to find the highest amount of sugar to get the layering correct. Teach kids about nutrition labels and/or turn it into a science experiment!

Patriotic Punch Ingredients

Ingredients Needed

You’ll need one type of beverage for each layer plus your ice!

Red Layer, choose one

  • Cranberry cocktail
  • Hawaiian Punch
  • Fruit Punch

White Layer, choose one

  • 7 Up
  • Sprite
  • Sobe Pina Colada

Blue Layer, choose one

  • Blue G2
  • Blue Powerade Zero

How to Prepare

  1. Fill each glass to the top with ice.
  2. Figure out which drink has the high sugar content by reading the label. The drink with the highest sugar content goes in first. Slowly pour in until the glass is ⅓ of the way full.
  3. Next, choose the second high sugar content drink. Pour that in VERY SLOWLY to avoid mixing until the glass is ⅔ full.
  4. Top the glass off with the last color with lowest sugar content.

Biggest Tips!

To make this work it all depends on the sugar content of each drink. Before you start you need to flip the bottles around and look at the sugar content in each drink.

You’ll need to start with the highest sugar content on the bottom. Then the next highest followed by the drink with the lowest sugar content. This will make them layer.

Pour slowly! If you pour the drinks in to the jar to fest they will get muddled together.

Make sure to grab fun paper straws to decorate the drinks with!
