Acorn cookies are a fun fall cookie recipe and these Nutter Butter acorns are the perfect recipe to make with your small helpers. It’s a no-bake cookie recipe that’s easy to assemble with just three ingredients.

Some people call them acorn candy because they’re made with Hershey Kisses, but the crunchy mini Nutter Butters make them cookie-candy mash-up! I love to make this precious little Acorn Craft to go with this yummy snack!

For this recipe, all you do is melt chocolate chips and use the melted chocolate as glue to hold the kisses and cookies together. When I make this with my kiddos, my oldest helps me melt the chocolate in the microwave and then spread it on the kisses. The littles help press the cookies and kisses together to make the acorns. It’s really fun to do!

They’re just as easy as my Grinch kabobs and reindeer graham cracker treats. Not to mention, the chocolate peanut butter combo is a hit with kids and adults alike!

Ingredients

  • Hershey Kisses – I like to use milk chocolate kisses, but there are so many options. Feel free to try almond kisses if you want nuts or other flavor to change these up.
  • Chocolate Chips – Semisweet chocolate chips are great, but dark chocolate or milk chocolate will work, too.
  • Mini Nutter Butters – be sure to buy the mini cookies and not the original large ones. The minis are the perfect size for the kisses.

How to Make Acorn Treats

Prep: Line your baking sheets with parchment or wax paper. Count out 48 chocolate chips and set them aside. You will melt the other chips and use the remaining 48 to make acorn stems.

Melt: Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and melt them for 30-seconds. Stir and, if they need more time, microwave them for 15 seconds longer or until the chocolate is smooth.

Assemble: Spread the flat side of each chocolate kiss with melted chocolate. Press a cookie onto the chocolate to make the acorn. For the stem, take one of the reserved chips and dip the flat side in the melted chocolate. Press it on the cookie in the center so it looks like a stem.

Set: Place the acorns on the prepared baking sheets and let them sit out at room temperature to set. If you’re in a hurry, you can also chill them in the refrigerator so they set faster.

Store: Once they are set, store them in an airtight container.
