Acorn cookies are a fun fall cookie recipe and these Nutter Butter acorns are the perfect recipe to make with your small helpers. It’s a no-bake cookie recipe that’s easy to assemble with just three ingredients.
Some people call them acorn candy because they’re made with Hershey Kisses, but the crunchy mini Nutter Butter cookies make them a cookie-candy mash-up! I love to make this precious little Acorn Craft along with this yummy treat! Nutter Butter acorns are just as easy as my Grinch Kabobs and Reindeer Graham Cracker Treats. Not to mention, the peanut butter and chocolate acorns are a flavor combo that is a hit with kids and adults alike!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- There is a job for everyone in the family to do in this Nutter Butter recipe. My oldest helps me melt the chocolate in the microwave and then spread it on the Kisses. The littles help press the cookies and Kisses together to make the acorns.
- Nutter butter acorns are super easy and really not that time consuming so you can have a sweet treat in hardly any time at all.
- You only need three ingredients for Kisses acorn treats, so you don’t have to worry about a big mess to clean up afterward – you can get straight to enjoying your treats! Plus Nutter Butters, chocolate chips and Kisses are easy to keep on hand anytime a craving for these acorns strikes.

Ingredients For Nutter Butter Acorns
- Hershey’s Kisses – I like to use milk chocolate Kisses, but there are so many options. Feel free to try almond Kisses if you want nuts or any other flavor to change these up.
- Chocolate chips – Semisweet chocolate chips are great, but dark chocolate or milk chocolate will work, too. You can even use white chocolate baking chips. Mini chocolate chips work too, but regular size will be easier for small hands to work with.
- Mini Nutter Butters – Be sure to buy the mini cookies and not the original large ones. The minis are the perfect size for the Kisses. If you cannot find minis, cut regular sized Nutter Butters in half.
How To Make Nutter Butter Acorn Treats
Line baking sheets with parchment or wax paper. Count out 48 chocolate chips and set them aside, these will be your acorn stems.
Melt remaining chocolate chips in the microwave for 30-seconds. Stir and, if they need more time, microwave them for 15 seconds longer or until the chocolate is smooth.
Spread melted chocolate over the flat side of each chocolate Kiss. Press a mini Nutter Butter onto the chocolate. Take one of the reserved chips and dip the flat side in the melted chocolate. Press it on the cookie in the center so it looks like a stem.
Place assembled acorns on the prepared baking sheets and let them sit out at room temperature to set.

Pro Tips
- If you’re in a hurry, you can also chill them in the refrigerator so they set faster.
- For an extra “authentic” look, spread some chocolate around the edge of each Nutter Butter cookie and roll them in finely chopped nuts or chocolate sprinkles.

These Nutter Butter acorns are such an easy and fun way to make treats to keep or give away. They’re a little crunchy, a lot chocolatey, and impossible to resist once you’ve made them. Enjoy!

Nutrition
Storage
Store Nutter Butter acorns at room temperature in an airtight container for up to a week.
I do not recommend storing them in the fridge or freezer because they cookies can become soft and chewy if the chocolate sweats.
How To Keep Chocolate From Seizing
It is really important to keep an eye on chocolate as it melts. Since you’re melting an extra small amount of chocolate in this recipe, it won’t take near as long. As a general rule of thumb, it is always best to start with less time in the microwave, you can add on more later.
After the initial run in the microwave, stir well between each time you place the chocolate back in to melt. Don’t overheat the chocolate, that is what causes it to seize.
