Ingredients For Homemade SpaghettiOs

  • Salted butter – This provides a nice rich base for the sauce.
  • Water – This will help to thin out the tomato sauce for the right texture plus the liquid will cook the noodles.
  • Canned tomato sauce – Use your favorite store bought sauce or use homemade tomato sauce.
  • Half and half – This gives the sauce a nice creamy consistency.
  • Seasonings – For this dish, you need garlic powder, onion powder and salt.
  • Anelli pasta – This is the name of O shaped pasta used in spaghettios, but if you can’t find it, look for another small shape like alphabet, ditalini or stellini.
  • Parmesan cheese – Grated fresh parmesan cheese adds a distinct savory flavor.

How To Make Homemade SpaghettiOs

  1. In a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, melt the butter.
  2. Then add the water, canned tomato sauce, half and half, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Stir to combine.
  3. Add in the Anelli pasta and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  4. Reduce heat to a simmer, stirring frequently, for 15-20 minutes until the pasta is tender and the sauce is reduced and thickened.
  5. Stir in parmesan and serve.

Homemade spaghettios is a meal your kids will request over and over again so put it on the meal plan this week. You will feel like you’ve gone back a few years with this one, I can’t wait for you to taste these spaghettios!

Storage And Reheating

Fridge: Store leftovers, once cooled completely, in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Freezer: I don’t recommend freezing this dish because the half and half in the sauce may separate from the tomatoes when thawing which may change the texture of the spaghettios.

To reheat leftover homemade spaghettiOs, cover and warm in the microwave or on the stovetop until hot through.
