Ingredients Needed for Fall Snack Mix Recipe

  • Wheat Chex cereal – I find that wheat Chex tend to be a little more crunchy than corn Chex, and I love that extra texture in this snack mix!
  • Corn Chex cereal – Corn Chex take on the flavor of sweet ingredients really well. They’re super tasty in this recipe.
  • Vanilla extract – A touch of vanilla adds a lovely depth of flavor.
  • Brown sugar – Make this fall snack mix very caramel like by using brown sugar to sweeten it.
  • Butter – Feel free to use salted or unsalted butter, both will work fine. Salted will give a bit more of a slaty sweet flavor to your snack mix.
  • Bugels – You can find these on the chip aisle of your local grocery store. They will mimic the look of a cornucopia in fall Chex mix.
  • Candy corn – The perfect salty sweet fall treat isn’t complete until there is candy corn in it!
  • Reeses pieces – Reese’s pieces are not only fall colors, but they’re peanut butter and chocolate which is a great addition to the salty sweet flavors in this mix.
  • Mini pretzels – If you don’t like mini pretzel twists, feel free to use pretzel sticks instead.
  • Caramel corn – I highly recommend using caramel corn that has peanuts in it! It adds a little extra something and pairs well with the Reese’s pieces. You can make your own caramel corn too!

What else can I add to this Chex mix treat?

Swap out cereals or add some extra cereal to this recipe! Cheerios and rice Chex would both be tasty. Just be sure that you don’t use too much cereal. If you decide to add different ones, only use up to 4 cups total of cereal.

You can swap Reese’s piece for M&M’s if you don’t like peanut butter or have a nut allergy. Chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and butterscotch chips are all great additions too!

Pro Tips!

  • Add or omit any ingredients to fit your dietary needs or flavor profile preferences. You can make this without peanuts if you have a peanut allergy!
  • Use a flat silicone spatula to mix your harvest snack mix cereal and sugar mixture together. Mix gently so that you do not break the cereal, pretzels and Bugels.
