Grab you fall colored acrylic paints and let’s get to creating a masterpiece!

Why You’ll Love Fall Handprints and Thumbprints Activity

  • Finger painting and hand painting are great sensory activities for young children to do. Plus they get to make a cute craft out of it!
  • This easy craft is very affordable to make. Just print out the templates and grab some cheap paints from the craft aisle!
  • It will only take a few minutes to make fall handprint art. Then you can just leave it to dry and display it proudly wherever you want.

Supplies Needed

  • Paint – You can either use paint designated for finger painting, or use acrylic paint from the craft aisle. If you have kiddos who like to put everything in their mouth, try using non toxic paints so that it’s safe if they end up eating some of it! The colors you’ll need to complete these paintings are:
    • Orange
    • Brown
    • Red
    • Yellow
    • Green
    • Black
    • Grey
  • Printer – Print each page out in black and white, that’s all you need. If you don’t have a printer, you can often print pages at your local library or Office Depot.
  • Card stock – I recommend printing on white card stock so that it holds up well underneath a layer of paint. However, plain white computer paper will also work. Just make sure that you don’t add too thick of a layer of paint to computer paper.
  • Coloring supplies – Grab some twistable crayons or colored pencils to color in the rest of the photo that isn’t painted.

What is Included in this Fall Handprints and Thumbprints Activity

There are so many adorable fall art templates to choose from. Use your handprints to make a pretty pumpkin or an adorable owl. There’s also a handprint tree template with a tree trunk that you’ll use your handprint as the top of the tree. Then you’ll use your thumbprints as leaves for the tree!

One of my favorites in this packet is the basket of apples. You’ll use the side of your hand in a fist shape to make the cutest little apples ever! Use the same method on another page to make little handprint bugs.

There is also a template for a turkey in these fall printable activity sheets. Use your fingerprints to make the prettiest little feathers.

You’ll use your handprint to create acorns and leaves, animals, a campfire, and so much more. There is so much to create with this fun activity packet!

Pro Tips

  • Have some paper towels and wet wipes or baby wipes close by to quickly clean your hands. Then once you’ve finished painting, you can wash them in the sink with warm soapy water.
  • After the paint dries, color in the rest of the details on the page with crayons or colored pencils. There are leaves, grass, clouds, tree branches, and more that need to be colored in.
  • Before the paint dries, sprinkle glitter of the same color over it. Once dry, shake off the excess and now you have a snazzy glitter painting!

Have fun making the cutest fall handprints and thumbprints art! You can display them on the fridge for everyone to see, or even make a holiday card out of your beautiful artwork!
