Pull the yarn off of your fingers, pinch it in the middle and then wrap yarn around it a few times to secure it in the center. Tie it off, then cut the end of the loops to create crazy monster hair!

BUILD: Take a clothespin in the color of your choice to begin building your clothespin monster craft. Simply open the clothespin and place the yarn hair in, then let the clothespin clamp down on the center knot.

DECORATE: Using a glue stick, or other type of adhesive, add some googly eyes to the front fo your monster. Then, cut a 3 inch section off of a pipe cleaner and thread it through the spring of the clothespin. Bend the arms however you’d like.

Add any finishing touches and then your monster is ready!

What do I do if I can’t find colored clothespins?

Not to worry! If you can’t find colored clothespins, purchase some regular wooden clothespins and paint them in your desired color. Just be sure to factor in some time for the paint to fully dry before you create your monster.

Pro Tips for the Best Clothespin Monster Craft

  • To make your monster hair extra silly, purchase fluffy or bulky yarn. When you cut the yarn after tying it off, it will make extra poofy monster hair!
  • Use a sharpie or other markers to create a mouth for your cute monster craft.
  • Give your monster some hands by adding beads to the pipe cleaner arms. Just cut your pipe cleaner a little longer and thread an acrylic bead through the end of each arm. Then twist to secure the bead!
