Anytime I can get my kids to eat fruit, I’m a happy mom. So, this smoothie is definitely a go-to along with yogurt bark and mixed berry popsicles when it’s warm! The kids love them, too, so everyone is happy.

We love making smoothie recipes and this berry smoothie is always a favorite. It’s great for breakfast or as an afternoon snack – the sweet fruit definitely satisfies a sugar craving in a good way!

Why this Easy Smoothie Recipe Works!

  • Really simple with just four ingredients
  • I use a mix of frozen berries – blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. It’s sweet and just a little tart.
  • Yogurt gives the smoothies a super creamy texture and makes them more filling, too.
  • This is a really easy recipe to adapt with different frozen fruit so feel free to experiment!
  • I just love the color – it looks healthy and delicious!
Berry Smoothie Ingredients

Ingredients Needed for Berry Smoothie

Banana – I use fresh bananas, but you can use frozen bananas, too. If you use frozen, your smoothie will be thicker so you may want to thin it with more milk.

Frozen mixed berries – or any frozen fruit you like in smoothies will work!

Vanilla yogurt – you can use regular yogurt or Greek yogurt, which is thicker. You can also use different yogurt flavors to change it up.

Milk – we love 2% milk, but you can use whole milk or nonfat milk. Or use your favorite dairy-free milk like almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk, or cashew milk.

Fresh berries – you can garnish your berry smoothies with fresh fruit, frozen berries, or skip the garnish. It’s up to you!

How to Make a Berry Smoothie!

  • Process until smooth and creamy.
  • Divide the smoothie between glasses and enjoy!

Are berry smoothies healthy?

It depends on the ingredients – they can be unhealthy if there’s a lot of added sugar, so I limit that in my recipe. You can use sugar-free yogurt or plain yogurt if you want to reduce the sugar even more. So, feel free to make adjustments!

What berries should you use in smoothies?

I like to use a mix of berries! Some berries like raspberries and blackberries are tart while blueberries and strawberries are sweet. Mixing them together makes a great smoothie.

I prefer frozen berries because they make the smoothie nice and cold. You can use fresh fruit, but you will want to add some ice cubes.

What else can you add?

There are about a million ways to make a smoothie! I like to keep them simple so they’re easy to make, but you can add or substitute ingredients to put a spin on the recipe.

Nut butter: A spoonful of peanut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter will add flavor, texture, and make the smoothie more filling.

Juice: Add a little orange juice, lemon juice, or lime juice for a kick of tartness. Cranberry or apple juice are good, too.

Sweetness: If you want to sweeten the smoothies a little bit of honey or maple syrup works great.

Green: Want to sneak in some healthy greens? Blend some spinach with the other ingredients. You can’t even taste it but it will change the color of the smoothie a bit.

Tips and Tricks

  • If your smoothie is too thick, add more milk or some juice to thin it. If it’s too thin, add a little more frozen fruit or yogurt to thicken it.
  • Make-ahead: Sometimes I make smoothie packs with the fruit divided into small freezer bags. That makes it easy to grab one or a few to blend up when we need a quick treat!

Give this mixed berry smoothie recipe a try the next time the kiddos are craving something sweet! It’s creamy, cold, and the best snack when you need something quick and healthy.

  1. Your Berry Smoothie looks yummy. I have been making smoothies for breakfast, Since I have a individual blender, makes about 2 cups, I have to slightly defrost the frozen fruit or it won’t work in a small blender. I also add a little juice, yogurt which I just eyeball
and sometimes a dash of cinnamon. That too, is delicious. Thank you for all the wonderful recipes. I have tried many.
