Ingredients For Chocolate Covered Frozen Bananas

  • Bananas – The bananas have to be just the right ripeness. Not underripe with any green showing, just ripe enough they are beginning to get spots – this is when they are sweetest and will have the creamiest texture. Do not use bananas that have been previously frozen.
  • Wooden skewers or popsicle sticks – If you are making frozen banana bites, you won’t need these two items but you will if you are making whole or half chocolate covered bananas.
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips – These are our favorite for the perfect chocolatey taste with the banana but please feel free to experiment with other types of baking chips – like peanut butter.
  • Coconut oil – Mixing coconut oil with the chocolate chips will help the chocolate to harden when frozen, but make it so it isn’t so hard you can’t bite into it. If you need a swap, you can try butter.
  • Assorted toppings: Whatever you can think of – sprinkles, chopped nuts, coconut, peanut butter drizzle.. bananas frozen in chocolate taste great with just about anything. Just be sure to have them prepared before you start dipping in chocolate so you can top the bananas before the chocolate hardens.
