Rainbow Jell-O Cups
Colorful Rainbow Jell-O Cups layered in clear cups with berry blue, lime, lemon, orange, and cherry gelatin, then topped with whipped cream and a cherry. Easy to prep for parties or St. Patrick’s Day, and great make-ahead treats kids love.

I love refreshing treats that aren’t really heavy and rich and these cute rainbow Jell-o cups are such a fun summer treat that is simple to make. When you go for a swim, you typically don’t want to eat something super rich, but it’s always great to have something a little sweet.
Jell-O is the perfect little cup of fun to treat yourself! Sure, you could buy the pre-made Jell-O cups at the grocery store, but these are adorable little rainbows. We sure love a Jell-O treat in our house so I make these Jell-O Jigglers often, too!
Grab some tasty flavors of Jell-O and get to making this cheerful rainbow treat!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Rainbow Jell-O cups are such a great themed treat for birthday parties or St. Patrick’s Day parties.
- This is a great way to get kids involved in the kitchen! The recipe and process is simple enough for your kids to help out and layering the colors is so fun.
- Jello cups are an affordable treat and you can easily make a lot of them all at once! Perfect for large gatherings and parties.

Ingredients For Rainbow Jello Cups
- Jell-O – You’ll need Jello flavors for each of the following colors: blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. I love berry blue, lime, yellow, orange, and strawberry or cherry. If you want to make this sugar-free, you can use all sugar free Jello mixes. It will work just as well and be equally as tasty.
- Water – Use purified or filtered water for best results and the best flavor.
- Plastic cups – I recommend buying hard plastic disposable cups so that they hold up better.
- Whipped cream – Either purchase whipped topping or make your own Homemade Whipped Cream to top each cup of rainbow Jello.
- Cherries – Buy a jar of maraschino cherries for the perfect finishing touch.
- Additional toppings – Sprinkles are also a super fun way to enjoy these Jello cups whether you are celebrating something special or just enjoying a sweet treat.
How To Make Rainbow Jell-O Cups
- Prepare the blue berry Jello according the instructions on the package.
- Transfer the Jello to a cup by using a bowl with a spout or a turkey baster. Evenly divide the blue Jello between all 12 cups.
- Place the cups in the fridge for an hour, or until set. Then, continue the process with each flavor: lime, lemon, orange, and cherry.
- Once all layers are complete and set, top each cup with whipped cream and a cherry.

Can I Put Jello In The Freezer To Set Faster?
You can, but you need to watch it closely! Only leave Jell-o in the freezer for 15-20 minutes, then let it finish setting in the fridge if still needs some time to chill. However, for these rainbow Jello cups I would only recommend this for the first layer. Don’t put set layers of Jello into the freezer.
Pro Tips
- Don’t rush layering the different colors of Jello. I know you want your sweet treat quickly, but if you layer Jello on top of a layer that isn’t set, it’ll become a mess!
- Before making the Jello, make sure you’ve got plenty of space in your fridge for 12 completed Jello cups!
- I recommend using the speed-set method with ice cubes, it’ll work best for this recipe.

These fun dessert cups are such a cute way to eat Jell-O. Jello is already such a fun food, put it in rainbow form and it just becomes the coolest treat ever!
