Ingredients Needed

  • Crescent rolls – You could also use a crescent roll sheet and cut it into four rectangles then strips. You wouldn’t have to seal the perforations of the crescent rolls together.
  • Hot dogs – Grab your favorite kind!
  • Mustard or ketchup – You’ll need to attach the candy eyes with a dot of either of these. Plus, create a fun dipping bowl with a base of ketchup and spider web of mustard.
  • Edible Candy eyes – If you don’t have candy eye balls just use mustard or ketchup dots to create the look of eyes!

How to Make Mummy Hot Dogs

Prep – Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cut Crescent Rolls – Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate at perforations to create 4 rectangles. Press the perforations in each rectangle together to seal. With a knife, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 pieces of dough. You will have a total of 40 pieces when you are done.

Make the Mummies – Wrap 4 pieces of sliced dough around each hot dog to look like “bandages”, stretching the dough slightly to fit the hot dogs. Leave some space so you can see the hot dog. On each hot dog, about ½ inch from one end separate the dough bandages to create space to put the candy eyeballs after baking. Remember the dough will puff up slightly when baked so make sure there’s some room.

Bake – Place each wrapped hot dog on a large, ungreased baking sheet. Place in preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the dough is lightly golden brown and hot dogs are warmed through.

Finish and serve – Remove from the oven. Place two dots of mustard or ketchup where you created the space for the candy eyeballs. Then place candy eyeballs on top of the mustard or ketchup. Serve immediately.

  1. Well, I never saw my kids laughing as they did while having these great and imaginative hot dogs. They are amazing, thanks!

My daughter absolutely LOVED these mummy hot dogs! She’s usually a super picky eater, and our pediatrician suggested getting her involved in cooking. At first, all I could think about was how that would lead to the need for a professional carpet cleaning every day, but I decided to give it a try. This was our first recipe together, and it was a huge hit! She had so much fun helping, and miraculously, nothing ended up on the floor—a total win in my book. Thanks for sharing!
