Golden Oreo Ice Cream

This is an EASY no-churn ice cream recipe which means you don’t need an ice cream maker!

The base is vanilla ice cream, and it’s dressed up with crushed Golden Oreo Cookies and fun red, white, and blue sprinkles.

It’s a great dessert recipe for 4th of July parties – everyone will want a scoop! Or make a batch just because – do we really need an excuse to have some ice cream?!

It’s also a fun recipe to make with the kids – they can help crush the cookies, whip the cream, and add the sprinkles.

Ingredients

  • Sweetened condensed milk – There isn’t a substitute for this! It’s a key ingredient for no churn ice cream.
  • Vanilla extract – Extract works great but for even more vanilla flavor, try vanilla bean paste.
  • Heavy cream – This is another key ingredient that makes the ice cream rich and creamy.
  • Crushed Golden Oreos – Or, use regular Oreo cookies. Sometimes you can find red Oreos for 4th of July!
  • Sprinkles – For this recipe, we use patriotic sprinkles. There a lot of options so look for anything red, white, and blue. Or mix it up with fun summer sprinkles!

Helpful Tools

  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer
  • Spatula
  • 9x5x3″ metal loaf pan

Instructions

Whisk: the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla in a large bowl.

Whip: the heavy cream in a separate large bowl until it holds firm peaks.

Fold: some whipped cream into the milk mixture. Once combined, fold all of the milk mixture into the rest of the whipped cream. Fold in the crushed cookies and sprinkles.

Freeze: Transfer the ice cream mixture into a loaf pan. Freeze the ice cream until firm, at least five hours.

How far ahead can you make no-churn ice cream?

As long as it’s frozen properly, no churn ice cream will keep for several weeks in the freezer. I think it tastes best within a week so plan to serve it within that time frame.

When I make it for parties, I usually freeze it a day ahead!

Why is my ice cream grainy?

Ice cream gets grainy when it’s exposed to air and melts and then refreezes. To avoid this, tightly cover the pan and keep the ice cream in the coldest part of your freezer and away from the door.

Recipe Variations

Oreos: I like Golden Oreos for patriotic ice cream but you can use any flavor Oreo that you like or pick one that matches the holiday or theme for your party!

Sprinkles: You can customize this ice cream to match any theme just by changing the sprinkles.

Other Mix-Ins: Instead of Oreos try other crushed cookies like vanilla wafers, crispy chocolate chip cookies, crushed shortbread cookies, or even graham crackers!
