Ingredients Needed

  • Oatmeal cookie mix: I used a Betty Crocker oatmeal cookie mix. Feel free to use a refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough mix or your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe in its place. If you use a different mix or premade cookie dough skip the butter, water, egg and chocolate chips. These ingredients are called for on the back of the cookie mix bag.
  • Salted butter: You can use unsalted butter if you prefer, but add an extra pinch of salt to help cut through the sugar.
  • Water
  • Egg
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips: If you want to try this with another type of chip, like dark chocolate, white chocolate, or butterscotch, feel free.
  • Vanilla frosting
  • Red food coloring: To get a really dark red, you will want to use a gel food coloring.
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Slivered almonds

Helpful Tools

How to Make Dracula Dentures

  • Prep – Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  • Make Cookie Dough – Use a mixer to beat the oatmeal cookie mix, softened butter, water, and egg together until combined. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and then use a 2-inch cookie scoop to place batter onto the sheet pan. Leave about 2-inches between the cookies.
  • Bake Cookies – Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or until cookies are golden brown around the edges. Set aside to cool off when they are done baking.
  • Prep Frosting – Prepare the frosting by putting it in a bowl and adding red food coloring to the frosting. Add enough food coloring so that the frosting resembles a blood color.
  • Prep Cookies – Use a knife to cut each cookie in half. Spread a thin layer of frosting on the flat side of both cookie halves. Set aside half of the cookie halves.
  • Arrange Marshmallows – On the other cookie halves, place a line of mini marshmallows around the curved edge of the cookie half, in the frosting. The frosting should hold them up, and the marshmallows should be touching and resemble teeth. Stand 2 or 3 more marshmallows on the straight edge of the cookie as extra support, optional.
  • Make Dentures – Once done with the marshmallows, grab the remaining cookie halves that were set aside and place them on the top of the marshmallows on the other cookie halves. The frosted side will be face down, resting on the top of the marshmallows. The curved and straight edges should match up with each other. It should resemble a mouth with teeth once assembled. Add two almond slivers in between the marshmallows, as bookends to the front 3-4 “teeth.” These create the fangs.
How do I store these Dracula Dentures?

Carefully place these in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days. After that, store the cookies in the refrigerator for up to a week. You can also freeze these for a few months.

What can I do to change up this recipe?

This is a classic oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe, so one of the easiest changes would be to make another type of cookie. However, you would need to make sure that the cookie bakes enough so it doesn’t crumble when you attempt to make the dentures. You can also switch out the type of chocolate chip you use, or make a vampire with blue gums instead of red. Or, go really crazy and make black cookies with some food coloring and use orange coloring for the frosting. It’s Halloween! Do whatever you want!
