Ingredients for Twinkie Bunny Cars

  • Twinkies – You can find Twinkies at any grocery store, on the snack cake aisle.
  • Peeps – These tend to be found on the holiday or seasonal aisle at your local grocery store.
  • White chocolate chips – I prefer using white chocolate since it is less visible, but you could also use milk or dark chocolate.
  • Mini Oreos – Use your leftover mini oreos in your kid’s lunch boxes, or just eat them all…I won’t tell!
  • Easter M&M’s – These can also be found on the seasonal aisle at your grocery store. But if you can’t find them, regular M&M’s will work just fine!
  • Pretzels – Be sure to grab the mini pretzels in the classic pretzel shape. It is going to be the “steering wheel” for your car.

How to Make Twinkie Cars

CUT: Using a sharp knife, cut a one inch notch in the center of your Twinkie. Don’t cut the Twinkie in half, just carve out enough space for your bunny peep to have a little seat.

MELT: Measure out a 1/4 cup of white chocolate chips and melt them in a microwave safe bowl. You’ll want to microwave them in 30 second increments and stir until melted.

BUILD: Using a toothpick or a spoon, add a little bit of white chocolate to the bottom of your peep and press it into the seat that you previously carved out. Then, put a little dot of white chocolate on the back of a pretzel and place it in front of the peep as the steering wheel for your car.

WHEELS: “Glue” your Oreo wheels to each side of the car with white chocolate and add an Easter M&M to each wheel for decoration.

Allow your Twinkie bunny cars to set for 5 to 10 minutes until the chocolate has dried and then send ’em racing!

How long do Twinkie Bunny Cars last?

I recommend eating this Easter dessert right away, but you can store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days. I do not recommend freezing Twinkie cars.

What can I use besides Oreos for the wheels?

Any small circular candy or cookie will work! You could use Lifesavers, marshmallows, candies, or anything else you think of. Just have fun!

Pro Tips for the Best Twinkie Cars

  • Have someone on “peep” duty and someone on “wheel” duty so that you can use the white chocolate before it starts to slowly set and become more difficult to use.
  • Carefully decorate the front of your Twinkie car with a bit of white chocolate and some fun sprinkles.
  • Wrap each Twinkie bunny car in cellophane or a cute clear Easter treat bag to hand out as a little Easter gift!

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 1 Twinkie Bunny Car

Ingredients

  • 1 Twinkie
  • 1 Peep
  • ¼ cup White chocolate chips
  • 4 Mini Oreos
  • 4 Easter M&M’s
  • 1 pretzel twist

Instructions

  • We will start by making a seat for the bunny to sit in! With a knife, cut a 1-inch notch in the center of the top of the Twinkie. Make sure not to cut it all the way through, or you will cut the Twinkie in half.
  • Melt ¼ cup of white chocolate chips in the microwave for 1 minute. Stir and heat in 30-second increments until melted.
  • Use the melted chips as the glue for your Peep to secure it to the seat. Grab a toothpick or spoon and add a dollop of white chocolate “glue” to the bottom of the Peep. Gently press it in the previously cut hole for the seat.
  • Next, grab a mini pretzel, dab it with melted white chocolate, and place it just in front of the Peep Bunny for the car’s steering wheel.
  • Now let’s add the wheels to our car! First, take 4 mini Oreos, place a dot of white chocolate in the center, and add an Easter M&M for a cute extra detail! Allow 2 minutes to dry.
  • Next, glue the “wheels” to the sides of the twinkie, parallel to each other in the front and back of the car, using the melted white chocolate. Allow at least 5 to 10 minutes to dry.
  • Once dry, your Twinkie Bunny Car is complete and ready to race!

Notes
