No matter if you are celebrating the New Year at home on New Year’s Eve or having a party it’s always fun for the kids to do an activity or craft. These DIY New Year’s Eve Noisemakers are quick, simple and easy for the kids to do.

They start with two paper plates that the kids will decorate. Then fill them with beans, decorate a popsicle stick or straw to use to hold the noisemaker and attach ribbon after you glue the paper plates together.

This is a great craft that will have kids working their fine motor skills, creativity and imagination as they create their own noise maker. It’s always fun to see what they can dream up!

This is the perfect craft for preschoolers all the way up through elementary school.

Supplies Needed to New Year’s Eve Noisemakers

We love that this craft is so easy to do you can make it last minute and probably have all of the items on hand!

You could even use popcorn kernels inside the plate instead of beans in a pinch.

Grab a bunch of different craft supplies the kids can use to decorate these with and see what they can dream up of. It’s such a great craft to let them use their imagination.

How to Make NYE Noisemakers

  • The first thing you will do is decorate the backside of two paper plates.
  • After you have your plates decorated you will glue the straw or popsicle stick to the inside of the backside of the plate as shown above. If you use a straw, flatten the portion that will be glued to the plate to make final assemble easier. Make sure to attach the straw or popsicle stick about halfway down the plate for stability.
  • Place a small amount of beans in the plate just above where the handle is glued.
  • Hot glue an even bead of glue all the way around the outside ring of the plate and carefully place the front plate on top and slightly press down until set.
  • Add curling ribbon – and additional decor, if desired – where the plate and handle meet to finish the look.

If you have ribbon wrap your straw or popsicle stick in the ribbon to make it more festive!

You could even add bells to your noisemaker and make it really noisy!

That’s it! You have a fun New Year’s Eve noisemaker to ring in the New Year with!
