Let’s start by taking the black card stock and folding it in half vertically. Take your ruler and trace a diagonal line to form a triangle. Finish the bottom of the triangle with a short horizontal line. Draw another vertical line for the trunk of the Christmas tree. In the center of the folded triangle, make 2 wavy lines about ½ inch apart. Don’t worry! The lines don’t have to be perfect! This will create the effect of garland on the tree!
Next, take your scissors and carefully cut the outer border of your previously traced tree/triangle. Be sure the card stock remains folded evenly. Now taking extra care, cut the inside of the “tree,” leaving a ¼ border around the outside. Be careful to cut around your wavy lines and leave them intact for the “garland” effect.
Once you have completed cutting, unfold and lay the tree flat.
Grab some assorted tissue paper and cut it into 1-inch squares. Set aside.
Now, tear a piece of Press n’ Seal just above the size of your Christmas tree and place it on your work surface sticky side up!
Place your Christmas tree under the Press n’ Seal sheet, centering it. Take your previously cut squares of tissue paper and fill in the body of the Christmas tree. The tissue paper squares can overlap. Press all the squares firmly to secure them to the Press n’ Seal.
Next, take the Christmas tree and apply a thin layer of glue to the back around the border. Center the tree over the previously affixed tissue paper. Ensure all of the tissue paper shows through and there are no gaps. Press to secure the border onto the sticky Press n’ Seal.
Once secure, grab a pair of craft scissors and cut the excess Press n’ Seal around the border of the tree.
You are ready to hang your suncatcher with a small piece of adhesive tape! Place it on your favorite window or door for all to enjoy!
