Instructions

  • Let’s begin by gathering all the supplies for this activity.
  • Now let’s make the hair for our monster! Grab your favorite color of yarn, and with four fingers held together, wrap the yarn around your fingers about 20 times.
  • Carefully pull the looped yarn off your fingers and pinch it in the middle. Wrap the yarn around the middle several times, then snip the end of the yarn and secure it with a knot.
  • Now place your scissors through the previously created loops and cut them to make some wild and crazy hair.
  • Grab a clothespin, and let’s attach the body to the hair! Open the clothespin and secure it to the knot in the middle of the hair. Fluff and cut the monster’s hair to your desired style!
  • Next, let’s give the monster some eyes! Using a glue stick, secure some googly eyes to the top portion of the clothespin. Feel free to be creative and use as many eyes as you want!
  • Lastly, let’s add some arms! Take a pipe cleaner, cut a 3-inch section, and thread it through the spring of the clothespin. Bend the pipe cleaner to create movement with the arms!
  • Now your monster is complete, and it’s time to play!

Notes

  • Use a sharpie or other markers to create a mouth for your cute monster craft.
  • Give your monster some hands by adding beads to the pipe cleaner arms. Just cut your pipe cleaner a little longer and thread an acrylic bead through the end of each arm. Then twist to secure the bead!
  • If you can’t find colored clothespins, purchase some regular wooden clothespins and paint them in your desired color. Just be sure to factor in some time for the paint to fully dry before you create your monster.
  • To make your monster hair extra silly, purchase fluffy or bulky yarn. When you cut the yarn after tying it off, it will make extra poofy monster hair!
