Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • Peppermints unwrapped
  • Metal cookie cutters
  • Baking pan
  • Aluminum foil
  • Bamboo skewer or toothpick
  • 1 teaspoon oil any kind of liquid cooking oil

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. This will help protect the baking sheet and make it easier to release the ornaments.
  • Place cookie cutters on prepared pan.
  • Fill each cookie cutter with a single layer of peppermints. Break the peppermint pieces to fill in the large gaps. As the peppermint candies melt they will fill in smaller openings.
  • Carefully put the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake for 5 minutes, check to see if they are fully melted. The baking time will vary depending on the brand of peppermint you use.
  • When candies are fully melted remove baking sheet from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes.
  • Dip a bamboo skewer in a little oil and use the skewer to create a hole for the ornament hanger.
  • Cool ornaments completely. Then remove from the cookie cutters. To remove the ornaments, gently pull the sides of the cookie cutter away from the ornament.

Notes

These ornaments are sticky and will only last one year. You can not save them and reuse them for the next year.
