Total Time: 28 minutes
Servings: 12 Pretzel Rods

Ingredients

  • 12 Pretzel Rods
  • 12 Ounces Neon Green Candy Melts
  • 1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
  • Large Red Heart Sprinkles

Instructions

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Place candy melts in a medium sized microwave safe bowl. Melt them according to package directions.
  • Add the coconut oil to melted candy melts and stir until combined.
  • Pour melted candy melts into a tall glass.
  • Dip each pretzel into the glass, coating half of the pretzel rod. Lay on prepared baking sheet.
  • Place pretzel rods in refrigerator and chill for 5 minutes or until chocolate is hard.
  • Place the leftover candy melts into a ziploc or frosting bag. Snip end off ziploc bag if using.
  • Starting where the chocolate ends on each rod, make a zigzag pattern as you move up to the tip of the pretzel.
  • Immediately add a red heart about a quarter inch below the top of the pretzel rod.
  • Place the pretzel rods in the refrigerator for five minutes to chill or until candy melts are set.

Notes

  • If you can’t find the neon green candy melts, you can use white candy melts and tint the melted candy with green food coloring. Make sure it’s an oil-based food dye or it will seize. Start with a little coloring and add more until you get the right color.
  • I love the salty-sweet combo, but you can use plain pretzel rods if you don’t want the salt.
  • When I make these with my kiddos, I melt the candy and get everything set up for them. My littles love to do the dipping, and my oldest helps with the zigzagging! Everyone loves to help place the hearts.
  • These make the cutest gifts! Package them in clear bags with fun Christmas ribbons and a tag. They also look great on a holiday dessert platter or make some for a cookie exchange.
  • You can store them at room temperature in an airtight container. If it’s warm, you might want to keep them in the refrigerator instead so the coating doesn’t soften.
